Yellow Fever Certificate for Uganda eVisa

Yellow fever is a serious viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. Uganda, like many countries in Africa and South America, is located in a yellow fever endemic zone. This means the disease is present in the country, and there's a risk of transmission.

The Ugandan government requires proof of yellow fever vaccination to:

• Protect public health by preventing the spread of yellow fever within the country
• Safeguard travelers from contracting this potentially fatal disease
• Comply with International Health Regulations set by the World Health Organization (WHO)
• Prevent outbreaks that could affect both local populations and visitors

Timing of Vaccination

The yellow fever vaccination must be administered at least 10 days before your travel date to Uganda. This waiting period is essential because:

• It takes approximately 10 days for the vaccine to provide full immunity
• The certificate is only considered valid after this 10-day period
• Immigration officers will check the vaccination date on your certificate

Validity of Yellow Fever Vaccination

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) updated guidelines, the yellow fever vaccination has lifetime validity. This means:

• You only need to get vaccinated once in your lifetime
• No booster shots are required
• Your certificate remains valid for all future travels to yellow fever endemic countries
• Even if your certificate states a 10-year validity, it's still accepted as lifetime valid

What the Certificate Must Include

Your yellow fever vaccination certificate must contain the following information:

1. Your full name as it appears on your passport
2. Date of birth
3. Date of vaccination
4. Vaccine manufacturer and batch number
5. Signature and stamp of the authorized vaccinator
6. Official stamp of the vaccination center
7. International Certificate of Vaccination format (yellow booklet)

Do You Need to Upload the Certificate When Applying?

When you apply for your Uganda eVisa online, you will be asked to upload a copy of your yellow fever vaccination certificate as part of the required documents. This is in addition to other Uganda eVisa requirements such as:

• A scanned copy of your passport bio-data page
• A recent passport-sized photograph
• Proof of accommodation
• Flight itinerary

What Happens If You Don't Have the Certificate?

If you apply for a Uganda eVisa without a yellow fever certificate:

• Your application may be delayed or put on hold
• You may be asked to provide the certificate before approval
• Even if your eVisa is approved, you will be denied entry at the border without the physical certificate

Important: Always carry the original yellow fever certificate with you when traveling. Immigration officers at the port of entry will verify it alongside your eVisa approval letter.

Who Can Be Exempted?

In rare cases, travelers may be exempt from yellow fever vaccination due to medical reasons. Exemptions may apply to:

• Individuals with severe allergies to vaccine components
• People with compromised immune systems
• Pregnant women (in some cases)
• Infants under 9 months (or 12 months depending on guidelines)

Medical Exemption Documentation

If you qualify for a medical exemption, you must obtain:
